Vin Diesel
(Dom) and Paul Walker (Brian) are back in the fifth instalment of the street
racing franchise, along with many others that were in the first of the series –
The Fast and the Furious. The action starts when three of the characters get
involved in a ‘death – defying’ car heist on-board a moving train that ends in
the death of three federal agents. The characters must stay hidden from law
enforcement or else be caught by the task force designated to hunt them down –
this is where Luke Hobbs (‘The Rock’) comes into the plot.
Dom has been
released from custody by Brian, a former cop and his sister, Mia. This movie
sees two members from the opposite sides of the law teaming up in order to
elude authorities. They are backed into a corner in Rio de Janeiro where they
must pull one last job in order to gain their freedom. The movie reaches its
climax when the two groups must face each other in the biggest race for their
freedom yet.
While the
action scenes during this movie may impress some viewers, it was taken to an
improbable level, leaving many viewers finding it hard to accept. Obviously,
the laws of physics were ignored. What were once a group of criminal racers and
FBI agents, turned from being useless fighters, into beings that were able to
fight in a similar style to that of an experienced fighter; almost ‘Jedi-like’
as it would be named. The running time was another aspect of the movie that was
criticised, with a total running time of 130 minutes.
Fast 5 gives
you plenty of excitement with car chases and action scenes. The pairing of ‘The
Rock’ and Vin Diesel became an attribute to the show, as many fans enjoyed
watching them interact with each other during the movie.
