Stitches

‘Stitches’ is a movie based in Ireland, featuring the famous comedian Ross Noble as a clown whose untimely death was caused by children playing a prank on him at a birthday party. The director (Conor McMahon) introduced a magic clown cult, whose “spells” awakened the clown from his grave, so that he could seek vengeance on the kids who caused his death.

Stitches the clown makes his first appearance since being revived at a high school party; the same party that those mischievous kids (who caused his death) attended. Following his re-introduction, are a series of gruesome deaths- only those of who were involved in his death of course. Each of the deaths mirrors an act that Stitches was supposed to have executed at the children’s birthday party. A humorous twist sees the producer introducing an egg with the clowns face on it, which represents the clown’s life. In order to kill the clown, the high schoolers must break the egg. This movie can be seen as gruesome and gory, with a humorous twist, a never before seen combination of clowns and horror.

There aren’t many bad things to be said about this movie; the producer has created a movie that is different to your typical horror movie as seen above, with the coupling of horror and humour, delivered in a way that has never been seen before. Ross Noble has been highly commended on his portrayal of Stitches the Clown, playing what many consider to be the perfect part, with his career in the comedy industry providing good background to work with. After watching McMahon's Stitches, you may well begin to understand why so many people suffer from coulrophobia - the fear of clowns. Whilst some are tickled by the painted performers, Noble's demonic antagonist is likely to lead to more than a few sleepless nights for the easily affected.
